What’s up Will! My artistic vision started very young when I passed you to win that motorcycle race. Art starts with being excited! Creating new lines, new adrenaline to spread movement across the canvas. I grew up with friends who lived their visions of storytelling through surfing, racing, skating, and being adventurous. Painting, to me, is very adventurous.
I work out of my studio in Downtown Los Angeles. I’m into large scale abstract paintings on canvas. The work references and shares elegant experiences of mine that open up that window of chaos.
Damn, this question always comes up. Inspiration needs to be wiped out of my vocabulary. You have to do what makes you feel good in life. It’s always changing. Like breathing, you’ll die without it but it’s so subconsciously present. Putting some words to the drive are speed and boldness. I like hummingbirds and graceful creatures. Making energy visible with physical openness.
I’m waiting in the airport right now to go install some paintings at my friend’s house in Texas. I want my work to be shared and be around like-minded, ambitious people or environments. I will work a little with a painting residency in Baja Mexico. Overall, as of now, this year is building for a few group shows and hopefully a solo show towards the end of the year.
Definitely dig deep to see how your presence is unique in this world. Share with friends, challenge each other respectfully. Talk about your work and engage your personal motives because that’s where the freshness is at. Go look for hummingbirds and go faster!!! Also, grab me a damn Gilly’s!
